Section 8 permits a police officer to enter a place or vehicle without a warrant to search for and arrest a person the officer suspects has committed an offence. In order to exercise this power, the officer must have reasonable grounds to suspect the person has committed an offence, reasonable grounds to believe the person is there, and reasonable grounds to believe that, if entry is not effected immediately, the person will leave the location to avoid arrest (or that evidential material relating to the offence will be destroyed, concealed, altered or damaged).
